What the system works out
You enter the number of rows, row length, spacing between rows and between vines. The system shows:
- the number and price of trellis posts (timber or metal);
- the wire length (galvanised 2.5 mm) by the number of rows and levels;
- the number of tensioners and clips;
- the vine plant count by the spacing.
Trellis and wire
Vines need a trellis system from the second year. The most common is a vertical trellis with 2–3 wire levels.
- Posts every 4–6 m; end posts are reinforced with braces or anchors.
- The system calculates post count by row length and spacing, adding end posts.
- Wire tension is adjusted with tensioners at each row end.
