Garden house

ExperimentalUpdated: 2026-10-18

What it is

A garden house is an allotment-garden building (STR 1.01.03:2017 Annex 1 row 10.4). The generator treats it like other buildings: choose the frame, cladding, roof, insulation, windows and doors to get drawings, a bill of materials and a price.

Permits and regulations

- A garden house is a group I simple building up to 50 m² and 5 m high (Annex 5 Table 1 row 2.3). There is no group II for garden houses: a larger one is a non-special structure that needs a design and a permit. The system suggests a size that needs no permit.

- In a resort, group I buildings count as group II (note 3).

- If it will be lived in permanently (a residential house), a building permit is always required (Construction Law, Art. 27(1)(1)(b)).

- A cabin outside an allotment garden counts as another non-residential building (row 2.4: group II up to 80 m² and 8.5 m). In that case choose the "Shed" or "Workshop" type.
