Tent-covered storage
ExperimentalUpdated: 2026-10-19
What the system works out
In the generator a tent-covered storage is a steel truss or portal frame whose roof and walls are covered with a PVC tent. You enter the size, wall height, pitch, frame spacing, tent fabric (650 or 900 g/m²) and how the hall is used in winter. The system works out:
- the tent area for the roof and walls with a 5 % overlap, and the tent fabrication;
- keder rails on both edges of every bay and tension straps for every frame;
- the frame, pads under the columns and gates — as for a truss hangar;
- labour hours: a tent is quicker to fit than steel sheet.
Roof only
If the walls are open, the tent covers only the roof — a shelter for machinery or hay. Keder rails and fabrication are then needed for the roof only.
Snow and wind
A tent roof is usually not designed for the full zone snow load. In winter snow must be cleared continuously so it never exceeds 8 cm, or the hall heated, or the tent removed. This allowance comes from an older edition of EN 13782; whether it applies in Lithuania has not been checked, so the system shows it as an unverified rule.
Only the anchors hold a light hall against wind uplift. Their number and foundations are chosen by an engineer, and the tent maker must declare resistance to your zone's wind.
Fire class and permits
- Enter the tent fire class per LST EN 13501-1, e.g. B-s2,d0, from the maker's declaration. DIN 4102 B1 or M2 are not Euroclasses.
- A hall that loses its purpose when dismantled is a structure: its group and permits apply. A span over 12 m makes it a special structure.
- Temporary status does not remove the permit — the permit only states the period of use.
